Question

Seat reservation cancellation or change

Here’s a clearer and more concise version:

I’ve reserved a seat but haven’t activated my pass yet. I’ve decided to change my travel date, but I wasn’t able to cancel the reservation. Can I make a new reservation for a different date and simply not use the original one?

If you want it slightly more formal (for customer support), you could say:

I have reserved a seat but have not yet activated my pass. As I need to change my travel date and was unable to cancel the original reservation, could you please confirm whether I can book a new reservation and leave the previous one unused?
and would this affect in any way my past day travels?

For which train/route and date and where have you booked your reservation?

But generally, there is no issue in just buying a new reservation (except that it comes with extra cost for you).

I want to book a night train from suite to Budapest.  and my pass covers the seat reservation. I just will let the date I’m not travelling pass and activate my day the day I will? would that work?

In the app, in your trip, you can delete the journey/train you won't be making, and add the correct one. There's no need to activate your pass or a travel day in advance.

As for the reservation: what's possible depends on the exact train (route, date, departure time), accommodation (seat/couchette/sleeper) and where you booked it.
