I have a 1st class ticket do I still have to pay for a private sleeper carriage

Sleeper and couchette accommodation always costs an extra fee. How much depends on the train, but here's an overview. Where to book also depends on the train. If you mention route, date and departure time, people can give more details.

Sleeper accommodation in most night trains can also be used with a 2nd class pass.
