Our family trip will start in April 2022. Due to changes our start date has to change and we will start in italy. This is not our country of residence. Will this be a problem?

You decide the first travel day when you activate the pass. And even then, you can cancel the activation before the first travel day.
You can make reservations without activating the pass.
