Good evening, I'm looking at travelling on the EC 135 from Trieste to Ljubljana Central 22/04/2023, the travel planner states I need to pay a supplementary fee. is this payed onboard or at the station.

You can buy the supplement for €2,60 from ÖBB https://shop.oebbtickets.at, usually also onboard. Put in the Interrail pass as your reduction and then click “buy ticket”, not just reservation
