Train from Germany to Italy

I want to book a seat reservation from Germany to Italy using my DiscoverEU credits. I know that I have to pay additional supplement but my question is where and how to pay it? In the Interrail website I can book the reservation using my credits, but I can not pay it there as I can see. If I need to pay it on another website I still need to buy the seat reservation  on the Interrail website, and after that to pay the additional thing on a different website, or in this case I need to buy the reservation on another website?

You can do this of course. You have then your pass, i.e. your travel ticket, the “Brenner” supplement (which will be on a seperate file on your phone or on a piece of paper) and the seat reservation. I do not know in which format you get it, when you use credits for it, but in principle it is independent from anything else.

I do not know, if and how you can use credits for that. If you wish to buy the supplement on the ÖBB ticket website pretend to buy a ticket (check not the seat reservation only box) and select under travellers adult and Interrail/Eurail discount. In the next step you will be shown the prices for the supllements for second and first class. €10 and €15, respectively) Select the class you are going and if you wish to buy a seat reservation check the seat reservation box (+€3). You may buy the seat reservation elsewhere, or later on the same website by checkíng the seat reservation only box in the first step.

I want to buy for 5 travellers. As I can see I can pay the 50€ additional fee in the ÖBB website. Thsts ok. (1st pic) But in the Interrail website it seems that I can book a seat reservation for the respectiv train using the credits we have. (2nd pic). Do you think that it would be okay if I pay the 50€ on the ÖBB wrbsite, and book the seat reservations at the Interrail website? Because like that I would have the seats booked, and the additional fee payed.

If regular pass holder book a reservation via Interrail, then this supplement is automatically included. So I'd assume that this is also the case for DiscoverEU (and Plus pass) holders. What do you get if you book a reservation via Interrail?

I dont know why, but its not working via Interrail. It gives me an error if I want to book, I can see that somenthings wrong with the route when I cross the border between Germany and Italy. When I add the route to my cart, and I proceed to buy the tickets there is nothing about the supplement beeing included. I dont know what to do, because I have the credits, and if I book via ÖBB than I have to pay for the seat reservations even if I have the credits. Is there any possibility that I need to pay the supplement first via ÖBB and buy the seat reservations after?

Could you please post a screenshot of the error message you see?

At what exact step does it appear?

When I click “Book” after filling the requested things this appears:

And when I click “Back to Order Details”:

And when I click on the route to check the error:

In that case, contact customer service here:

https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new

Give them all details about the journey and also send them your screenshots. It should be possible to book free reservations this way.

28/8 is still a long time to go, so just see what they say.
