I am new to this and I have to purchase a pass for my gf and myself. We are traveling from Nice France to Imperia Italy (95km). Do I have to purchase a global pass for this one trip? we will be renting cars the rest of the time we are in country.
Od coruse not-that should even be daft clear to an USAer. Just buy ticket locally-though the small catch here is that you canNOT buy 1-its till Ventimiglia=border, then onward. Tix cost just a very few€ and there are NO REServ needed or even possible-very much like the CTA or MARTA or CalTrain. Even do not worry too much about timings: at least hourly in both FR and IT.
Somehow I suspect you will regret enormously to hire a car to travel in summer along this mediterranean coast. But to go inland its OK.
