Hi there, first timer. Iam trying to get from Paris to Brussels on Monday 7th July. Eurostar are sold out of reservations. I have looked on seat 61 and have seen that there are trains that do this jorney taking around 4.5 hours. What I am truly confused about is how I know which trains I can use with my pass. Ideally I would like to leave in the morning around 10am. Everytime I use the interrail website it only gives me eurostar times. I would like to use regional trains with no reservations if possible

You can see the times on the Trip Planner by choosing the filter ‘no seat reservations required’.

It’s best to verify this information by also searching on Bahn.com (there you can go into ‘Mode of Transport’ and uncheck ‘High Speed Trains’.

You could do the entire route reservation free, but travelling by regional trains requires at least 1 change and the whole trip is very long. A possible itinerary:

TER 16368: Paris Nord → Amiens, 13:22 - 14:35 (no earlier connection AFAIK)

TER 43915: Amiens → Lille Flandres, 14:48 - 16:07

little break in Lille

IC 19953: Lille Flandres → Tournai, 17:32 - 18:05

IC 3217: Tournai → Bruxelles-Midi, 18:10 - 19:14

You could also take one of the frequent TGVs to Lille (reservation required, 10€/20€) and change there to the frequent Belgian Intercity trains towards Bruxelles.

It’s best to split your search into Paris - Lille and Lille - Bruxelles and use a reliable planner like bahn.de. Your Pass is valid on all these trains.

EDIT: I just saw that there is a reservation free itinerary like above starting in Paris at 10:29.

There’s also the OuiGo. It’s not included in the pass, but tickets are fairly cheap. If your only journey of that day is Paris to Brussels, I’lld buy a Ouigo ticket and save the pass day for another journey.

It’s a direct, low-cost classic train from Paris to Brussels. Departures at 8:18 or 12:18. It takes about three hours.

Tickets for 7/07 are found at 20-25 EUR per person for the OuiGo for the full trip, book it as soon as possible. Much cheaper than Eurostar reservations+cost of the pass day, slightly slower than Eurostar, but much faster and more comfortable than the local train hassle via Amiens-Lille-Kortrijk or Tourcoing.to Brussels with lots of changes.
