Trying to manually add a ThamesLink journey...

Forum|alt.badge.img+3

I am trying to manually add ThamesLink journey from St Pancras to London Bridge because the Eurail app does not show trains. I have done this previously about 2 years ago but don't remember exactly how it's done.

The Eurail app gives the following screen on starting manual addition:

I entered the times approximately and train number is optional. Is this enough to generate a valid ticket or should I get exact train times from the ThamesLink app as below and put in exact departure and arrival times?

Thanks in advance for your time!

The exact times is the best but the app will create a ticket with any time you enter.

I’ve had to enter a few trains manually as well. But the exact times are not possible - eg the manual adding allows 10.05 but the train leaves at 10.07.  So how does it work when the train conductor wants to see the QR code of the ticket?  will they accept  approximate times?  Am worried that I’ll be asked to pay! or fined….  Thanks

You can set any departure and arrival time when you add manually, so what do you mean by "the exact times are not possible”?

The manual option only allows five minute intervals, as in 8.45, 8.50, 8.55, etc. I wanted to get a train that is listed on the train company’s website that leaves at 8.54  so have manually added it (it is not on the Railplanner yet, June 1st) but as leaving at 8.50 because I thought that would be better than 8.55
Or have I missed something? thanks for such a fast reply rvdborgt!!

Could you please post a screenshot of where the app only allows 5-minute intervals? My app allows any time. The clockface on my phone only shows 5-minute intervals, but dragging the minute hand around allows me to set any minute.

ah! sorry, I didn’t  realise that you can actually drag the minute hand round. I made the assumption that it was set like that.    My mistake and I’ll try again and do it properly this time. Thank you very much indeed for helping with this issue. It is actually the first time I’ve had to manually add a journey after three years of global pass travel (this is my fourth year).

Very strange that the app doesn't give connections between London St Pancras and London Bridge. I travelled Thameslink quite often. When using an interrail the app always gave me connections from my suburban station to any station in any direction. But St Pancras apparently causes the app to be confused. It gives no connections, as to London Bridge, or, when I ask for St Pancras - Farringdon, it adds unwanted connections from other stations in London, like from Paddington or Liverpool Street.

There seems to be some bug here. Something for programmers to work on? Should I make this a topic somewhere?
