Use of interail 2nd class global flexi pass - able to get on the train without booking (if seat reservations is not required)?

Hi there! 

With the interrail global pass are we able to go to a station and get ourselves on a train without booking if it doesn’t require reservation seats? 

This is our first time with these passes so don’t know fully how they work!

You have only to add the trains to the pass before boarding (via App or on the paper pass)
