Hi, i think i made a mistake with activating my eurrail pass. In dutch (netherlands)  and have 2 number on my passport. One is a document number and one is a personal number. They said to fill in the id number and i filled in my document number. Does it matter which number it is if the pass will match it in eacht europian country i go to. Or do i need to change it to the personal number?

It should be the either the passport number or the number of the National Identity Card (if you are a European citizen), not a personal number. But you shouldn't activate the Interrail/Eurail pass before your first  day of travel.

The main purpose is for staff to be able to check that it is really you, so as long as the numbers appear on your passport I wouldn't worry too much about it. Because of privacy concerns, I'd recommend using the document number instead of the BSN.

If the start date is in the future, just cancel the activation. Only activate on the day you start your trip and then use the document number.

Hi oke thank you! I have filled in my document number. However my friends did not. Should they deactivate their pass and activate it again with the document number? And if they do, can they just add our travel to their pass again? Or will it be risky and they might not be able to be on the train they wanted to? We already made seat reservation where it was required and recommended so we do not want to lose our trains.

It's best to use a document number.

It's also not recommended to activate your pass or a travel day in advance. Activation can only be cancelled until 23:59 before validity starts. If you change plans and forget to change the start date, or if anything happens on the planned start date (e.g. you wake up ill), then you can't cancel anymore, the clock will start ticking and you can loose travel days.
