I was born in Ecuador (South America) and currently live there. I also have an Italian citizenship because of my father.
As I have an European passport, but live outside Europe, should I buy the Eurail or the Interail pass?

Your Country of Residence is what matters so a Eurail pass is what you need. If you have an Ecuador passport or ID then you should bring that, even if you use your Italian passport for border control. Otherwise you should bring something credible with your name and home address in case you are challenged, particularly in Italy.
