I have bout eurail global pass for 15 continuous days for 3 of us , now when i am adding the pass to the rail planner app it is asking to create individual trip for each of us in the family. Understand the pass number is different however not sure why rail app is asking to create unique trips for each person in the same family considering we are travelling together ?

Because not all travel always together :)
Each Pass is connected to one trip :) but it's quite easy just prepare one trip and copy it then twice to have it ready for all. If you later wanna add a train you can select all 3 trips. You still have to activate each travelday separately and yes it's a bit annoying
