Answer

X-Tåget in Sweden, not in pass network?

Hello,

I’ll be travelling around Sweden this Easter. This will include a ride from Sundsvall to Gävle, where I’m looking to travel with X-Tåget.

In Rail Planner, it says that the 08:41 service with X-Tåget from Sundsvall to Gävle on 8 April is “not in pass network”. I decided to check this directly with the provider so I emailed X-Trafik, who runs this service, and their Customer Service department confirmed by email that they do in fact accept Interrail on X-Tåget.

I’m a bit puzzled why the app says “not in pass network” but I’m letting you know now in case you want to update this for a future app upgrade.

Question: Am I right to assume that if I want to travel on the X-Tåget with my interrail pass, I’ll simply have to add this journey as a manual entry?

Thanks in advance for your help.

@Camilo.@MukhammadHave you raised this issue internally? The Railplanner and the website still show that X-tåget not is included although it is. Also X-tåget should be added in the links provided by @rvdborgt Please get this fixed ASAP.

Hi everybody!

I will pass this information and it should be added asap. Thank you for the reminder.

Have a nice weekend!

Hello everyone,

I have just received an answer today. Our product specialist has confirmed with SilverRail that the Swedish company X-Tåget is not included in our Pass network.

For @dnavjord, the statement from the X-Trafik 's customer service staff could be inaccurate. This specific train company will be included in product document for clarity.

Thank you!

The app says that because it has many of this kind of errors. You'll indeed have to enter the train manually.

@Mukhammad @Camilo. Please add X-Tåget to the participating companies:

https://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/tips-and-tricks/trains-europe/railway-companies

https://www.eurail.com/en/get-inspired/trains-europe/useful-train-information/participating-railway-companies

And of course correct the rail planner app.

Thank you for following up on this.

Just wanted to add that I had no issues using my interrail pass on my ride with X-tåget. The ticket inspector had never seen an interrail pass before and was curious about how it works (“is it valid on planes too?”). He even took a photo of my pass for reference.

I just got an answer from X-tåget saying that Interrail/Eurail is valid on their trains. Can you please contact Silverrail again and ask them to clarify.

When the train company says that Interrail/Eurail is valid I would assume that to be true.

@Camilo. @Mukhammad If I get your email address I will send you my conversion with X-tåget.

The information I got from X-tåget Customer Support is that Interrail/Eurail is, and has been for very many years, valid on their trains.

Hi everyone,

I apologize for the delay in providing you the information. Based on the communication between our product team and Silverrail (our partner in the railway network and ticket distribution), these trains are unfortunately not valid at the moment. However, they are still talking to include them asap. A mistake regarding the validity of the trains might be done by the railway company's customer service.

Have a nice day!

Just found this thread… Is there a chance that X-Taget is included (again) in the interrail pass soon?

I might be travelling from Sundsvall to Gävle in late October on a continuous pass so it would be cool to use the pass for that stretch. Ticket inspectors seemed to be fine with rail passes a few years ago.

Hi @rvdborgt! I reached out to our team but they said they have no news at the moment unfortunately.

Very unfortunate as the only other option to use the pass on that stretch is an all-reserved and often sold out SJ high-speed train.

I really hope that these regional trains will be included again one day, like all the other regional trains in Sweden.

My experienced with SJ on Sundsvall-Gävle is that there almost always is possible to make a reservation on that specific route. Even if the train is full from Sundsvall to Stockholm, there has always been seats available from Sundsvall to Gävle, and the other way around. But the best would be if X-trafik would be included in the Interrail pass.
