Great that this is now possible! 😍
Will it be possible to book reservations for trips in May with the IRY from Barcelona to Madrid before the beginning of April? Or can reservations for a trip, for example, on April 1st, only be made on April 1st?

Based on this post and the app message, I indeed expect reservations to only be available from April 1st for travel from April 1st. If you want to ensure you get to Madrid, there are plenty of Renfe trains on that route, though for a trip in May waiting until April 1st should be okay.

Wasn't Iryo supposed to be bookable starting from April 1st? The app still shows "Not yet in pass network" and the Interrail website shows "Not available from Interrail.eu. This seat reservation can’t be booked on our website. Check 'More information' for other ways to book".

So what's the deal? I thought they were supposed to be bookable by now 🤨

Indeed, it was supposed to happen on 1 April, but as posted in the first post above, there's some sort of technical delay.

Nothing to do but wait, unfortunately.

According to the staff at the Iryo ticket office in Barcelona, pass reservations have been delayed until 1/7/2025.

There is no mention of Interrail or Eurail on the Iryo website (iryo.eu) and a general enquiry didn’t get much of a response, I see someone said 1 July ley’s hope it doesn’t slip again.   In first class a far superior offering to RENFE-

1/7/2025 is now over and the technical issues continue to exist :/ Anyone an idea what’s going on here?

The railplanner now states that the inclusion of Iryo trains into the pass network will be anytime in the future...

I suppose more delays, and nobody really knows how long it will take :/

Hi everyone,

We know many of you have been waiting and it's frustrating not to have a clear answer yet. Things are still in progress behind the scenes. And while we hoped everything would be ready by now, it's taking a bit longer than expected.

We'll make sure to update you as soon as there's any news. Thanks for hanging in there with us!

The excuses are wearing a little thin, the announcement was made nearly six months ago, "technical issues" are just cover for seller's remorse, methinks.

I am truly disappointed by the lack of clear communication regarding the integration of Iryo into the Eurail Pass network.

I am planning to travel through Spain in mid-August and it would be incredibly helpful to know if I need to book a Renfe train or if I will be able to travel with Iryo.

The current uncertainty due to the ongoing technical issues is very frustrating for travel planning.

After eight months since the announcement and five months from planned introduction I am of the opinion this will never happen.

It reflects very badly on Eurail/Interrail and IRYO so much so that a planned trip in another new service the "Plus Pass" has been cancelled.  It is in a beta phase and how can anyone trust that iif they cannot sort out "technical issues" on this project for eight months?

This is losing them business!

I can understand your point of view and am sorry to hear that you have given up hope in our ability to deliver new products and services. I have some questions about your Plus Pass experience and am following up via DM.

After 7 months no news about IRYO integration.

Does anybody knows when December timetables are published from Paris to Madrid?

It’s Renfe, so don’t hold your breath! They’re very slow. I’d guess dates after the timetable change (14 Dec) won’t go on sale until November or even December.

You’ll need to change to a TGV somewhere along the route. I imagine that SNCF will open reservations before Renfe do.

Still, connection from Perpignan to Madrid via Iryo is listed as not included. Is there hope for this being resolved until mid October?

There’s no news, but your time is already running out for travel in mid-October.

I would make reservations on whichever train you can find. There’s a direct AVE, or there are indirect options via Barcelona.

Approximately somewhere between nil and zero.  Tomorrow makes the planned implementation six months late, they have only replied with platitudes to messages on this board.  If you wish to do the trip with a pass your only options are RENFE either direct once a day or more options with a stop in Barcelona.

Very happy about Spanish Speed train companies joining the Eurrail Pass. If we could help the Spanish train system to upgrade in order to book seat online instead of at the station ticket counter would be great for traveling to and in Spain by planning in advance. I asked the manager at the ticket center in Madrid about making seat reservation online, the manager said NO. When I mentioned I could do that with Italian, German, France, Eurostar, his responded that “we are in Spain”. That is why this year, I didn’t travel to Spain in the train.

Spanish reservations can be booked online on raileurope.com, happyrail.com and eurail.com (the latter 2 with an extra booking fee). None can book all reservations, and they all have their quirks, but all in all, many trains can be booked online.

Of course, Renfe being Spanish, the staff are hardly aware of anything outside the peninsula, so they don't know about websites other than the Renfe website.

In general, use this page as a guide to pass reservations:

happyrail.com works for all train types in Spain now. They only have the frequent issues with the flaky connection to Renfe’s booking system when they make their unannounced changes on some routes.

That's good news. I see they now even do regional trains with mandatory reservations, such as Badajoz-Puertollano. The problem with e.g. Vigo Urzaiz has been solved, but it seems not yet with Segovia Guiomar (no prices).
