Hello all!

My name is Eelco, from Zaandam, The Netherlands. I'm an IT-guy, doing development in Java and Python and … more. Last three years I went back to school, to learn to be a restoration carpenter, maintaining and building traditional wooden houses, churches, farms etc.

Last year we traveled Europe for a month by Interrail, this year we plan a 3-month tour. Looking forward to that!

Besides all that, I'm investing time in Open Source, to get rid of the power of Big Tech. If your interested, meet me at Mastodon: @eelcoa@mastodon.nl

cheers,

Eelco

Hello, and thank you for accepting me onto this forum. I’m a 65 years old Australian male, who, with my wife, is planning on travelling to 1/. Switzerland and then onto 2/. Great Britain in the May/June period of 2026. This will be a first for us both, and probably a once in a lifetime trip. Our goal is to travel primarily by rail so that neither of us has to focus on driving unfamiliar roads. I look forward to finding many hints and suggestions on this forum to help us with the planning of our “once in a lifetime”.

Cheers

I am a 44-year-old father of a family and will embark on my very first Interrail trip to Sweden  this summer with my wife and children. Grateful for inspiration of all kinds and tips from experienced travelers.

Good morning

I've been travelling by train all my life, including in the last days of steam. I'm currently planning a month away from my home in France, on a circular tour using a 30 day pass. That's for flexibility, rather than cheapness but it will save me some money over advance purchase tickets. I'm shocked that the cost of just a couchette is often no cheaper than an advance ticket and sleeper together. As I'm intending to travel mostly by day to see the scenery that's not too much of a disaster.

My fixed points are first day travel and two nights accommodation in Chur travelling on Bernina  and Centivallee, and last two days travel back from Prague to Poitiers. In between I have the main objectives of Naples, Athens, Istanbul, Pammakkule, , Bucharest, Budapest and Prague, plus a few options depending on how I feel about it at the time. If anyone has suggestions as to especially scenic routes I would love to hear them.

Thanks, all.
