Will a 10 day pass be the best option for this travel plan of ours ?

Hi Eurail community,

Thanks again for all being so helpful !

We are nearly ready to purchase a pass and want to make the right selection.

We are thinking a 10 day pass and then individual passes for the remaining days.

Our plan looks like this :

Fly from australia and start Munich > Winterthurr > Wengen > St Gallen > Salzburg > Frankfurt > Dusseldorf > Zandvort > Colonge > Hausach > Munich fly back

We worked out cause we are staying at some places longer that we would need a total of 10 trains trips between all destinations. We understand some of these may need reservations so hope to book these if needed AFTER getting the 10 day pass.

Any suggestions or tips would be awesome.

Thanks again eurail community for being so helpful !

Hello @Martin Saldais

For these countries you don’t need a pass to book reservations. Passes are never sold out and you can buy them shortly before departure.

The best site to reserve seats is oebb.at, indicate that you have an Eurail Pass as discount. You don’t need any pass number. The reservations cost 3 €, cancellations and refunds are sometimes possible.

If you want to reserve specific seats on a plan in Germany, you can make reservations on bahn.de. Select “Seat reservation only” (5-6 €). No refund is possible.

You don’t need seat reservations in Switzerland, except for some panoramic trains:

It may be cheaper to buy a 15 days pass for the remaining days, unless you buy discounted tickets months in advance. For example, a regular return ticket Wengen - Lucerne in Switzerland costs about 100 CHF.
