Hi everyone,

My family (6 adults, 1 toddler) will be travelling from Evian les Bains to Brussels this September. Just curious what everyone recommends as the best route. I’m trying to do it the quickest and cheapest. I don’t mind buying separate legs if we need to go to a city then buy a separate ticket to Brussels from that city. I find that sometimes picking my own layover times help with saving money on the tickets. Thanks in advance!!

You can use a good planner such as DB Navigator for timetables. Then this guide for Eurail seat reservations (assuming you have passes): https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Quickest and cheapest aren't linked, you must choose one.

- Evian - Bellegarde - Paris (station change) is doable for 37-47€ pp on top of the pass

- Evian - Bellegarde - Lyon - (Lille) - Brussels is doable for 20-30€ pp

- Evian - boat to Lausanne - Bern - Basel - Cologne - Brussels for 0€ pp (only boat ticket, 50% with Eurail). Cheapest but least convenient route.

Personally I'd try to avoid the Paris station transfer and take one of the Lyon routes such as:

- TER Evian-les-Bains - Bellegarde 10:21 - 11:57

- TER Bellegarde - Lyon Part-Dieu 12:05 - 13:22

- TGV Lyon Part-Dieu - Brussels 14:00 - 18:00

If you need regular tickets rather than Eurail reservations, have a look at SNCF Connect.
