Hi,We are looking to begin interrailing on the 4th July in Bucharest making our way through the Balkans to arrive at Slovenia.Ideally (open to alterations) we would take this route:Bucharest - Sofia Sofia - ThessalonikiThessaloniki - Belgrade (we are under the assumption that there is a direct night train for this route but not certain)The information does not seem to be readily available regarding these routes and are curious to find out whether there are any trains available completing these routes this summer?Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I’m working on trying to decide what global pass to purchase but I can’t find applicable routes to create a potential itinerary. I’m starting out from Porto Portugal trying to get to Madrid Spain but all searches say “no trains available” although it appears to be a major route. What am I missing? Is it because I’m crossing country borders? My ultimate goal is to go from Portugal, to Madrid,Barcelona, Nice, Venice to Budapest. Any advice would be appreciated. Rob
Hi everyone!I know, that there had been lots of questions about traveling thorough Baltic area. But still I want to ask you again. Is there any possibility, that we can somehow combine train and bus to travel from Riga to Vilnius? We really need to plan this route so any advice would help us.Thanks a lot!Anet
Hello interrail community! It’s gonna be my first interrail alone this summer and I would love to meet new people!I just started using this free dedicated website for interrailers: https://www.inntouch.fr/ Would be great to have you joining the adventure so we can find each other :) Looking forward to see you all!
Hi, so I’m starting to plan my first interrail with my friends and we were thinking about following the “top 10 cheapest cities in Europe” (10 Cheapest Cities in Europe | Interrail.eu) between 4th and 18th of june. However, I started to read some topics here in the comunity and from what I understand flixbus is not included in the interrail pass and there isn’t a lot of trains in this route, is that right? From what I have been reading and searching it’s an easy route untill Budapest, but after that there isn’t a lot of trains. Could you guys suggest other countries to visit? I already went to France, Italy and Belgium so I would like to meet other places. Thank you in advance.
Hi all,I thought I’d share my prospective interrail plan to get a better understanding of everything, as it is my first time travelling and I hope that I can get some advice or recommendations on the regions and cities I am visiting. (for context, I am 22 years old, travelling with another person, want to use hostels and trains as much as possible and lastly I have the 2 month global pass)I start at Edinburgh, then to London for the Eurostar to Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Bucharest, Varna, Sofia, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Mostar, Split, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Munich, then the Golden Pass in Switzerland. I may want to go further but that depends on money etc.I’d like as much advice and opinion on these areas as possible - it keeps my wanderlust fuelled during the dark cold months of the Scottish winter. Thanks! 😁
Hey everyone :)I’m planning a trip in the scandinavic countries. I’ll start at Stockholm and want to go first over Oslo to Bergen. During this trip, there is the railway of the Flam train. Anyone has an advice for me to include it efficient to my trip. I saw that the train between Oslo and Bergen stops at Myrdal, which is one stop of the flam rail. Do I have then only the possibility to go a whole round with the flam train back to Myrdal? Thanks for your help.Alex
Hi!I am planning to get a bus from Split (Croatia) to Podgorica (Montenegro) and then train from Podgorica to Belgrade (Serbia). As far as I know, it is the only international route by train to Serbia at the moment.Does anyone have experience how to cross the border to Romania/Hungary from Belgrade? I didn’t find any straigth bus.. I only need to cross the border(for example to Timisoara/Szeged) because in Romania and Hungary the train networks are better and it is easy to continue traveling with train to next destination.Any experiences?
Did you know that you get 50% discount on almost all lake constance public boat lines with your interrail/eurail pass? Many people don’t know, since it is published nowhere, except in the tariff:https://www.schiffe-am-bodensee.ch/images/befoerderungsbedingungen/Bodensee_Personentarif_2021_website.pdfIt can also be helpful to carry this pdf with you, in case the ticket seller don’t knows interrail/eurail!
There seems to be conflicting and confusing information in regards to which rail line services are covered under the Eurail Global Pass when using the the Planner App. Many locations and routes simply don’t appear when they clearly exist because they are promoted on the web page.
Hello! I am going from Sofia to Belgrade and then from Belgrade to Bratislava. No trains from Belgrade go to Bratislava though so I was thinking about going via Zagreb. On Serbia’s railway site there is an international connection listed but is the train to Zagreb currently running? I’m going there in two weeks. If anyone has insight on the Sofia to Belgrade train connection, it is also well appreciated. Thanks for your help!
Don’t get the stupid eurrail pass if you are in France. First of all everything requires a booking fee, normally from 10-30 euros one way. Second of all, you can’t go anywhere like London or Amsterdam unless you book like two months ahead, which u might aswell get plane tickets if ur booking that far in advance. This stupid pass cost me more money than I could afford to lose.
Hello there,My boyfriend and me are planning an interrail through Scandinavia this summer. But we are kinda lost in all the amazing plazes. So we were wondering if you guys have any suggestions for places to visit in Denmark, Sweden and Norway? We would love to go a bit more to the north. We are from the Netherlands and plan to take the boat back home from Kristiansand (Norway)Also other tips about accomondation, must do's or traveling are welcome! Thank you in Advance!Maaike
Hello everyone! This was probably asked many times but I need a proper confirmation. If I take a night train from Amsterdam to Prague, where there are no direct train route and is required to have 1 change of train somewhere in Germany, would it count as 2 days or still 1 day pass? I’m very confused with this rule because there are no direct routes!
If I want to get on the Bernina Express panoramic train from Tirano to St. Moritz (and/or vice versa), do I need a pass that covers Italy as well as Switzerland, or do they waive the requirement for Italy because its such a short stint in Italy (and because that’s what I want the answer to be, but I suspect it won’t be… hahaha).
A note for anyone taking the train from Belgrade to Podgorica. On the Interrail app and website when you search for Beograd and select Beograd Central, it automatically switches to Topcider. I learnt the hard way that the train does indeed go from Beograd Central and not Topcider. Do not go to Topcider.
I found the next webpage: https://trenitalia.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/trains-europe/night-trains/trenhotel-internationalI would like to go from Hendaye to Coimbra, but I don’t find the train for it. Probably it has been cancelled. Does anyone know an another route possibility?Thank you!
Hey All!This is a late July timeframe, super flexible.I’m looking at a Sofia (Bulgaria) start (or Thessalinki Greece). Was curious about North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, (pretty sure EUrail doesn't operate in Albania). I see that its hard-impossible to get into Serbia or Bosnia by train at the moment, and seeing similar situations for Kosovo, North Macedonia (unsure about Montenegro), so was just curious if any expert here knows for sure.Surfing Seat61 too long now (excellent site though) and I feel like I’m slowly losing my mind haha. Was thinking that since Bosnia and Serbia seem hard/impossible by train, maybe there is way to go Sofia to Skopje(North Macedonia) to Kosovo to Montenegro and then up through Croatia to Slovenia? If I can’t see these Balkan countries by train very easily, I think I’ll just have to put them on the future to-do list and at least try to see the north of the Balkan region by going across the top of Croatia towards Italy, which I b
