Recommendations for Oradea (or anything else in the region)?

Hi all! When I embark on a trip from Budapest to Cluj, I will pass Oradea. It looks like a very beautiful art noveau city that I'd like to check out, but I am unsure how long I should stay there. I could also check out Debrecen or other towns in the region. Does anyone have recommendations or must-see's in this region between Hungary and Romania?

Hi @wbouw !  Oradea is definitely worth a stop. It has stunning Art Nouveau architecture and the city center is very walkable. A full day is usually enough to explore the highlights, including the Black Eagle Palace and the thermal baths.

Debrecen is also a good option if you're into history and culture. It’s Hungary’s second largest city with a more laid back vibe. If you have more time, consider also visiting the Hortobágy National Park for a taste of the Great Hungarian Plain.

If you're choosing between Oradea and Debrecen, go with Oradea for architecture, Debrecen for history. Either way, it's a great region to explore.

Hope this helps!
