Question

Stockholm - Narvik sleeper not available?

I'm currently planning a trip to Narvik, and was hoping to make use of the direct sleeper train NT94 from Stockholm. I'm trying to book for the 24th July 2026, however I can't seem to see it - on the SJ website it only shows a route involving a change at Boden. The first leg from Stockholm to Boden still shows as train 94, but there's no option to book all the way to Narvik. Anyone know if the direct train is still bookable for then?

Oh, I just think it’s a bit far in the future to book this train. You can only book up to 4 months in advance at SJ I think. Check again in a couple of weeks.

The direct night train doesn't exist anymore. The only option left is with a change in Boden. The last direct night train is sometime in spring IIRC.

I haven't seen anything about this, how come they stopped it? When was this announced?

The Swedish government doesn't want to spend more money. They say that costs have risen.

There may be something on the Trafikverket website. There's an article here.

If I'm understanding the article right, doesn't it say the stockholm-narvik train is still going to be running? I don't speak Swedish or Norwegian, so I'm just reading through Google translate and may be misunderstanding. If it is cancelled, What's replacing it? The website seems to suggest a 5am transfer, is that going to be the case?

Indeed, the article doesn't quite seem to match what the planner is suggesting, which is a change in Boden. I suppose SJ know what trains they'll run, so it will be an early change :(
