we are looking to travel from Zermatt to Milan on 12th June 2024 and I understand that the direct line between Domodossola and Milan will be closed during that time and there will be replacement buses. Where can I find the timetable for these buses and buy tickets? We have Eurail global pass will this cover the bus as well? TIA!

Indeed there are works from 9th June to 8th September. Timetables are on trenitalia.com and most planners (incl. Rail Planner).

Your pass is valid on the bus but passholder reservations seem unavailable everywhere... (I should go ask at a counter when I've got the time haha). Tickets for this leg cost 13€, same price as the reservations you'd have had to pay for the direct train.

Either wait a bit or buy tickets (they won't sell out).

If you're not in a rush you could also consider one of these reservation-free/extra ticket-free alternatives:

- Domodossola - Novara (infrequent) - Milan

- Domodossola - Locarno (slow but scenic) - hourly RE to Milan
