Travelling from Greece

Hey, I’m located in Thessaloniki, Greece and I’m trying to plan my trip from here. I wanted Barcelona to be my first destination however I can find any roots, not even from Athens. Our railway here is owned by Hellenic Train which doesn’t seem to do trips anywhere out of the country. Has anyone ever travelled from here by train? I need some help. Do I have to go by plane and if so is this covered by the interrail pass?

Greece indeed doesn't have any international trains at the moment. There used to be northbound departures from Thessaloniki but nothing planned.

You could take a bus to Sofia (Interrail not valid) and start your aventure there. Or take a ferry across to Italy and start in Brindisi or Ancona.

But if the main focus of your trip starts in Barcelona I'd fly there rather than spend 3 days non-stop on trains. The plane is not included in Interrail but Ryanair does have good fares from Thessaloniki to Italy for example, same for Easyjet to Milan. (Beware that luggage costs extra)
