Hello dear community,

We already have a ticket, route season ticket, and/or GA Night travelcard for Switzerland. We're wondering: If we still have travel days left that we don't need for trips abroad or back to our home country, can we use them within the validity period for a trip that takes place exclusively within Switzerland—i.e., a trip that doesn't involve leaving the country?

Danke euch

If you have used your in/outbound days, you can use any other valid ticket for travel in your own country. Your Interrail will then still be valid from the border tariff point, e.g. Basel Bad Bf, Geneva, Buchs etc.

Hello @YaYeWi

It is not allowed to use the pass for other journeys, the rules in Switzerland are:

You could really have a problem, not only travelling without a valid ticket, but travelling with a counterfeit ticket, which is a criminal offense. This is just my personal appreciation, I don’t know if these rules are enforced,

Google translation:

“The Interrail Global Pass is valid in your country of residence for one outbound journey to the border/airport/market-price train (outbound) and one return journey from the border/airport/market-price train to your place of residence (inbound) (entered in the Rail Planner app). These journeys must be within the overall validity of the pass. Flexi Passes must have an activated travel day for the journey in your country of residence. This also applies if you enter the country by night train (in this case, two Flexi days are required).”

Interesting finding… I planned to use my 3 I/O days in such a way (inbound/outbound/inbound) because the validity period of my GA expires during my trip :/

So I need to search for saver tickets then.

But these rules also imply for me, that you have to use the outbound travel day first. I’m curious if other railway companies also have such rules.

@eurocity101

I found this information in the SBB Community (in German):

You can use the I/O days whenever you like during your trip.

This last sentence is not necessarily correct. It depends on whether you need another train after the night train.
