Some destinations not in pass like Lauterbrunnen

You only need to buy a ticket between Interlaken Ost and Lauterbrunnen. It costs 5,70 CHF (25% discount applied).You can buy it at the train station directly. What is the uncovered leg between Remscheid and Paris ? You'll only need seat reservations (mandatory) between Köln and Paris (Thalys, expensive 32€) or Mannheim - Paris (20€) or Strasbourg - Paris (10€). You need to buy those in advance. The majority of railways are accepting Eurail passes, some don't (especially in touristy areas like Lauterbrunnen). There are some mandatory seat reservations on high-speed trains though : mainly in France, Italy, Spain + some cross-border services.

Using mobile app: 2 questions

The app and seat reservations are completely separate. You show both to the ticket inspector.You only need wifi/mobile data to activate the pass + at least every 72 hours (if I'm wrong, someone please correct). There'll be free wifi for sure at Frankfurt Airport.Seat reservations are best done somewhere else than Eurail pass (booking fee there), especially for the countries you're travelling to.Germany and Switzerland both have optional reservations.- bahn.de : 4,50€ per journey (no matter if 1-2-3 trains)- tickets.oebb.at : 3€ optional seat reservation, mandatory (Italy) : 3€ Intercity trains, 10€ Frecciarossa trainsThe Austrian Railways website (ÖBB) can make seat reservations for Germany, Austria, Italy + cross-border trains to Switzerland (and some other countries).Seat reservations in Germany are a good idea on busy mainlines (Berlin - Frankfurt - Switzerland for example), esp. on Fridays or holidays.Reservations are a waste of money in Switzerland. You're welcome.Please use the SBB app when you're there : it gives you train tracks, delays, compositions of most trains + how busy each carriage should be. Very useful !Let me know for any advice about trains, especially in Switzerland. I could tell you how busy that train might be (from experience) or anything else :)

@rvdborgt The 37,60 CHF was for the Liechtenstein day. The journey Ljubljana - Verona would indeed cost at most 10€ + bus or all reservation-free.

The journey via Nova Gorica doesn't work on tickets.oebb.at because there's no reservations possible for any leg of the journey. Be aware that you'll travel in 2nd class that day, there are no 1st class on these regional trains. For what device would you need an adaptor ? It seems a waste of money. As a Swiss my phone charger has got 2 pins, it is the standard European charger and works everywhere 37,60 CHF is per adult yes but I've found a cheaper and better option for you :- 22,40 CHF Chur - Sargans return valid all day- 12 CHF Liechtenstein buses all day ticket (includes buses 12/12E to/from Sargans)- Junior card validYou'll be able to buy these tickets 60 days in advance or at Chur train station :)For travel inside Liechtenstein, use the great public transport system. How many travel days for travelling within Italy

A 4 days in a month Pass will be enough yes.Keep in mind the mandatory seat reservations, for which you need to check if there's still availability :- 3€ IC train Rome - La Spezia- 3€ IC train La Spezia - Milan- 31€ TGV Milan - Paris (not valid on the Frecciarossa cross-border trains)- 32€ Thalys Paris - AmsterdamIf this costs too much for you or there's no availability left, you could consider traveling via Switzerland. Reservations are optional as soon as you cross the Swiss border until Amsterdam - DAY 3 Milan - Lugano - Old Gotthard Line/Gotthard Tunnel - Luzern - Basel- DAY 4 Basel - Cologne - Amsterdam (4,50€ seat reservation recommended)Or via Simplon Tunnel and Bern as you wish. Regular tickets might be cheaper but book ASAP.

I did not see these messages, my bad…Please use sbb.ch (or the SBB app) as advised.Some thoughts :To get to Vaduz the most straight-forward route is- any train to Sargans- Bus 12 or 12E (Express) to Vaduz, PostIt takes less than 50 min and there are multiple connections per hour.Ticket is 37,60 CHF return valid all day on all trains to Sargans and buses to Vaduz. No need to buy these tickets in advance but you can (from 60 days prior to travel date). The Junior Card is valid so do not buy a ticket for the child.You can pay using Euros (and all debit/credit cards, even bitcoins !) at ticket machines but they'll give change back in Swiss Francs. Bus drivers usually do not accept Euros (but I've seen it happen). You won't need to pay anything at all on buses anyway as the tickets bought in Chur will be valid all the way to VaduzThat's a great feature of the Swiss public transport network : you can buy trains, buses, boats tickets at any ticket machine !

The Peak2peak ticket is indeed the best ticket for both Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. I've used it twice !Last year it cost 197 CHF in summer (although I paid half-fare due to my Swiss tickets). At least the child travels for free (with the Junior card).Do not buy the ticket in advance as if the weather is bad, you don't loose 600 CHF…You will need to go to a ticket counter on the day to get the free Junior card ticket anyway (not possible online).Last year's trip report :- Arrival in Zermatt at 11:00... (travelled from my hometown)- no waiting at all at the Gornergrat Railway ticket counters- 15 min walk to the cable car station (free buses too)- Zermatt - Trockener Steg : 6-people cable car (you should get the cabin all to yourselves) for the 30-35 min climb to 3000m- Trockener Steg - Matterhorn Glacier Paradise : about 10 min to the top, big and shiny new cabins- at the top : all infos available online- back the same way until Furi (last intermediate stop before Zermat

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is in the middle of the map at 3883 m.The real Matterhorn is under it (while it is higher in altitude in reality), it is kind of a schematic map (no real distances whatsoever).It is the Riffelsee on the Gornergrat Railway, as I explained before it is a convenient and easy hike (but you won't be alone)."With your Gornergrat ticket you are allowed to leave the train at every stop and hike a little bit before taking the train again. Many people hike between Gornergrat or Rotenboden - Riffelsee - Riffelberg. You have the best possible view of the Matterhorn too (reflected in a lake). You can have a look at pictures. Of course you won't be alone but that's the same for every hiking trail. The trail is not hard but keep in mind that you are above 2500 m elevation."

Eurail, how does it work?

Just to add : reservations are mandatory for all night trains I know. Expect to pay 30-50€ for a couchette, a bit more for a sleeper.Night trains (especially Nightjets in Western and Central Europe) tend to sell out quickly so book them soon. :)Let us know for any other questions, always add the date, time and route (it's easier).I can really recommend seat61's website too ! If it is a regional train, no reservations are possible at all.And for example it is a waste of money to book seat reservations in Switzerland : plenty of trains and capacity usually + as nobody makes reservation, you might find someone very surprised that he's sitting on your seat and needs to move...

Seat reservation price for train originating in France

It is the price of 5 seat reservations on the cross-border ICE/TGV train. The other trains have optional reservationsYou could save half the price by taking a TGV to Strasboug (5×10€), then a regional train to Offenburg and ICEs to Munich (+ regional train to Garmisch). It would take between 30 min and an hour longer. Let me know if you need advice for that itinerary. :)

For trains without mandatory reservations you simply hop on and find a seat (and add the journey to your trip, plenty of advice for how to do it in this forum).For journeys with mandatory seat reservations, you either need to book them on eurail.com (booking fee) or other train companies websites (usually no or less booking fee).Seat reservations are separated from the pass, do not activate your pass to book them (there's really no need to). You simply need to show both the pass and the seat reservation whenever a ticket inspector checks tickets. Mandatory seat reservations in Italy (and many other countries) can be bought on tickets.oebb.at (no booking fee). Add Interrail/Eurail Global Pass as a discount and select one-way tickets.- 10€ Frecciarossa trains- 3€ Intercity trains Maybe the date is not available yet as the Italian summer timetable hasn't been entirely published. Naples to Pisa is either done :- Napoli Centrale - Roma Termini 10€ Frecciarossa- Roma Termini - Pisa Centrale

Pass vs normal tickets?

All the details have already been written I'd say.You could use your pass on Freiburg - Interlaken day as you don't need it on 03/06 (Jungfrau). I'd recommend not to book Jungfraujoch in advance as if the weather is bad, you won't see anything and lose 178€. Tickets can't sell out.If Freiburg is not a must, I'd really recommend Basel instead, it is a much more charming city. :)- Freiburg/Basel - Interlaken : I'd make a few hours stop in Bern and then take the boat between Thun and Interlaken if you've got time No reservations necessary in Switzerland. I guess you're taking the reservation-free coaches on the Bernina Express.You could consider a 1st class 5-day Eurail Pass, not that much more expensive. Edit : Don't know where you've got the 80€ ticket price for Thalys, it is 149€ for that day. As 29/05 is the last day of a holiday weekend, I'd really recommend on buying that seat reservation ASAP. A Eurail Pass is even more worth it ! Though there are only 2nd class seat reservations a

No don't worry. There are plenty of seats available.Use tickets.oebb.at : add Interrail as a discount and select one-way tickets. You cannot book Interrail seat reservations on sbb.ch or trenitalia.comThis website (Austrian railways) works for all journeys in Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland (cross-border EC trains to Italy), etc.You could book a Frecciarossa 10€ seat reservation between Verona Porta Nuova and Venezia S. Lucia (the correct train station, Mestre is on the mainland) but in my opinion it is not worth it : Frecciarossa trains take 1h12 and RegioExpress leaving every hour at xx:22 take 1h28. Those are reservation-free and therefore allow you much more flexibility for your travel. You only need to hop on (and add the journey to the app, as for any train) ! :)From what I can see though, there might or might not be 1st class on those regional trains. You can always sit in 2nd class with your 1st pass. If you want to make sure to sit in 1st class, then book Frecciarossa se

Seat Reservation

As 10th April is Easter Monday, a lot of people will be travelling so do not wait before booking seat reservations, especially if you want to be seated together (you can't choose your seats but the system will assign you together when possible).Here is an option with available seats :- Roma Termini 11:10 - Milano Centrale 14:50 10€ seat reservation- Milano Centrale 15:20 - Spiez 17:55 11€ seat reservation- Spiez 18:05 - Interlaken West/Ost 18:21/18:26 no reservation needed, just take a seatI'd really advise you to book these reservations now on tickets.oebb.at (add Eurail as a discount and select one-way tickets)If you miss a train with reservations due to a delayed previous train, the staff will rebook you on the next train when possible.
