Thanks again for your help! so really it is just luck and perserverence?! I want to book from Narvik to Stockholm on the overnight train as well…. I am assuming that I do need to book as far ahead as possible though? Can one make bookings by phone by any chance? I can’t find details anywhere.
Since I posted that I have read that reservations for the night trains from Stockholm can’t be made more than 60 days in advance: I was trying for Stockholm to Hamburg on May 30th so it is probably too far ahead? thanks for your reply!
Thanks for the information. I have been trying to book a night train too, from Stockholm to Hamburg but with no luck at all. Even the daytime trains don’t seem to be available for booking. Can anyone tell me how far in advance SJ make tickets available. and also, how far ahead should I reserve a seat in Sweden, please? I have a first class global pass. All advice is very welcome: am finding it hard to navigate reservations with my pass. Thanks!
I’m glad I am eligible for Eurail, then! thanks for the information.
I just bought my second Global pass - paper - and have not had to put a start date on it. Last year I just put that on the day I got it verified/stamped.
Definitely avoid Spain during Semana Santa - last year I had problems booking tickets. And you do have to be there in person to get the reservations - bu there are slower routes. If you have time, do take FEVE line across the north of Spain from Santander to Ferrol. And yes, the ferry from Barcelona to Italy is a good option but if you want to visit friends in the south of France, there are ferries from Toulon and Nice to Corsica/Sardinia, trains south, eg in Sardinia get the train south to Cagliari and then another ferry across to Palermo. I’m not sure if those ferry lines give Interrail and Eurail pass holders a discount.
Thanks for all your advice. Much appreciated - it is good to have this community to help with questions...
It looks as though my last reply does not show: but I wanted to say thank you for all your help… and yes, the private window fixed it. No idea it worked. but hurray! it did workhappy new year!
No it is still the 5th here!
Thank you. that is exactly what is happening. I tried on my laptop and it won’t even go to the cart. On my phone it gets as far as passenger details. But I have no idea how to clear cookies etc - am very grateful for your help!
I want to go from Bari to Patras on April 29 and then Patras to Venice on 6th of May. I used the email suggested for them. Thanks - am encouraged ….
Thank you! If I don’t reply asap it is because it is getting late here in Australia.
I am seriously upset by this. Having spent what is for me a huge amount of money and not able to use the pass…..
Also I am now unable to log into my account. It keeps telling me that my email or my password ‘isn’t right’. Am really very angry about this whole debacle with eurail. There is no response at all from customer service. Does customer service even exist???? Any suggestions from anyone at all, please? thank you.
Yes, you are right, it was B-europe. I tried calling from Australia, which is expensive to say the least, but got cut off after a long wait. I appreciate your input, rvdborgt!
Thanks for your response.I’m trying to book Eurostar from London to Brussels and was using the Eurail website and then tried the one recommended by man in seat 61 which was labelled by him as Belgian but is actually French I think. I”m in Australia and leave on Thursday… so booking in person isn’t possible yet!!I have the old pass cover number and the new one they gave me, both E and 8 digits. A paper pass. Thanks again!
I wasnt’ sure if that was possible - but obviously the way to go! thank you for your advice. Given the times we live in, with country wide lockdowns and so on, planning too far ahead isn’t so easy these days. From this distance it is hard to get a sense of what travel is like now (I am in Western Australia which has been just about covid free - so far, that is)and the link with AERA is great: a good companion to Mark Smith’s website.
Thank you - maybe I’ll have to wait to buy it until I am sure of dates; will investigate those possibilitiesThe problem is that mail takes ages to get from Europe to Australia at the moment, sometimes well over a month.
