Hello,For planning your itinerary it is generally not recommended to look at the Eurail Rail Planner, it's not up to date.For this leg you should search for the train company running this train, in this case ÖBB/Nightjet.On their website, you'll see that the night train is already available (usually for other trains it's 60-90 days before).340€ for a private couchette carriage though… It's cheaper for other dates so please have a look.

It depends on who operates the train.There is a Nightjet between Vienna and Ancona during summer. ÖBB are a big player in the night trains world !Departure at 19:18 and arrival at 09:00. But this route could also be done during the day. For example Vienna - Venezia Mestre - Ancona with a departure at 06:18. It would be a very long travel day so if you choose the day trains, maybe have a stop in Venice too.Italian trains should be booked on ÖBB too, don't ask me why…This guide will help you :

340€ for a private couchette carriage though… It's cheaper for other dates so please have a look. There are no pass holder prices for a private couchette, only normal fares. If you're with 4 people, just book a 4-person couchette via tickets.oebb.at and it will be €172. You'll be placed in the same compartment if possible and if it's not possible you’ll see a warning before you pay. Note that if children are under 6 years but you want them to have their own berth, then make them 6 years old. If you book couchettes (or a sleeper) via ÖBB for children under 6, then they won't have their own berth. Thanks for the info ! I hadn't thought of the warning and it's really useful (also for my incoming trip maybe...).

London to Paris Nord train seat reservation

If you really need to travel that day I'd consider Flixbus or similar (unfortunately...). As @AnnaB said there are no passholder fares at all and almost no regular tickets left, at more than 200€. Either you could consider travelling another day or a bus…There are also ferries between the UK and France, although they take much longer. Please have at look at seat61.com  Edit : Flixbus would cost 75€

Eurail Global Pass vs Swiss Travel Pass for Europe Trip

I'd recommend the Eurail Pass for trips outside Switzerland at least. You then need to check if the Swiss Travel Pass is worth it.What made me say that ?The Eurostar on 3rd April is already so expensive : more than 200€ per person ! The reservations would only be 30€ but be aware that the only seats left are either on the 06:01 or 07:01 trains or after 16:22.The TGV would cost 10€ between Paris and Mulhouse (near the Swiss border) and then you take a regional train to Basel and an Interregio/Intercity train to Lucerne (all reservation-free).As mentioned you can also take a direct TGV Lyria to Basel but the reservation fee is higher and it only saves about 30 min. As you plan to take trains that are not included in the Eurail pass, you should then take a look at the Swiss Travel Pass (already worth it with the Rigi + Gornergrat day trips). So for me you should combine both passes.

Oh sorry I thought they meant April, 1 (first). Yes, they need to check because TGV fares seem to be more expensive than usual too.And be aware that there are track works in the Dijon area during the month of April so not all TGVs run during the day. It might be better to take the TGV from Paris-Est to Strasbourg (10€) and then a TER to Basel.For example : leaving Paris-Est at 09:25, having a 40-min (or more) break in Strasbourg, a really nice city, taking a TER (max 200 km/h on this line) to Basel and arriving in Lucerne before 15:00.

Travelling with high speed trains from Amsterdam to Spain

Do you want to travel to Spain in one single day ?In that case the most straight-forward route would be :Thalys Amsterdam Centraal 09:11 - Paris-Nord 12:35 RER between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon (not included in the pass) TGV Paris Gare de Lyon 14:54 - Barcelona Sants 21:25Thalys can be bought here and you don’t need a pass to see the availability https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Booking/Pass (a hefty 32€ fee)For the International TGV things are more complicated… either contact SNCF by phone or let me know a few dates and I could check the availability on the Interrail website for you. As of today the 14:54 TGV seems to be available on all dates. (36€ fee) As the seat reservation fees for these trains are very expensive, please have a look at the normal tickets which can be quite cheap way in advance. High-speed trains in Spain are also a pain to get seat reservations because RENFE doesn’t welcome Interrailers well… The best option is to buy the seats as soon as you enter Spain.

confusion with pass

The travel days in your home country are part of your pass days.So you’d need :Day 1 Liverpool - London - Amsterdam Day 2 Amsterdam - Berlin Day 3 Berlin - Krakow Day 4 Krakow - Budapest Day 5 Vienna - Frankfurt - Brussels - London - Liverpool → this is an extremely long travel day, leaving at 6:49 and arriving at midnight if all goes to planI’d recommend splitting the last day into two : making a stop in Brussels would be a good idea. It would then mean a 10-hour and a 7-hour journey (at least).Another option would be taking the night train between Vienna and Brussels (book early). There is a fee for couchettes but it saves a night accomodation. Of course the Brussels - Liverpool leg would also need an extra travel day.It’s now your job to determine whether a 5 or a 7-day pass is worth it.Note that the Eurostar requires a 30€ seat reservation fee and often sells out weeks in advance.

TGV Zurich to Dijon bookings

As 1st August is Switzerland’s National Day Zurich would be a great stop if you have time.Btw trains run on a Sunday timetable that day (not many changes on the trains frequency anyway, more buses/trams).If the journey needs to be done in a single day Zurich is indeed the best option.EC Munich - Zurich : 6 trains a day, 3h30 travel time ; this train can be quite busy, seat reservation recommended but not mandatory TGV Zurich - Dijon : 2-3 trains a day, 2h25 ; hefty seat reservation fee - about 30€ and only on Interrail website as @Al_G warned. Taking a regional train to Mulhouse is a great option too.The TGV Lyria seat reservations are available 90 days in advance - no need to panic, they won’t sell out directly.

Bonjour,Ça dépend de vos préférences... entre 2 et 3 jours par trajet.- Bâle - Hamburg Hbf 13:06 - 19:51- Hamburg Hbf - Stockholm C 21:19 - 09:55Ensuite vous pouvez profiter de quelques heures à Stockholm avant de prendre le train de nuit direct pour Kiruna à 18:10. Eurail Italy Pass - Lake Como to Lugano

You can take any train between Italy and Lugano that stops in Chiasso. No need to get off. I'd recommend using SBB website/app for the Swiss leg = a ticket between Chiasso and Lugano.3. Basically all routes operated by Trenitalia (at least) but don't quote me on that.4. Yes you will need a seat reservation for high speed trains, it's 10€ per seat (should be bought at ÖBB, the Austrian Railways). But there are often reservation-free alternatives, usually requiring more changes and a longer travel time.

Eurail Italy Pass - Lake Como to Lugano

My experience is different than yours... ;-) For me it's unusual to tap in/validate your ticket somewhere !In Switzerland there are no gates or anything. You can stay on the train no problem. A ticket inspector might or might not come and you simply show him your ticket.Yes I recommend buying a ticket in advance on SBB website/app for travelling between Chiasso and Lugano. The fare is 9.40 CHF one-way, the ticket is valid 2 hours on all trains, buses + the funicular down to the lake and the city center in Lugano.For 18.80 CHF (the same price as a return ticket) the ticket is valid all day on all trains, buses, etc. of the selected zones (if necessary). Switzerland is divided into "fare networks" so for all travels within the Italian-speaking part you'll get Arcobaleno tickets valid on all trains and buses.2. Gotthard Express

Hello,There is only one branded Gotthard-Panorama-Express train (with the big windows) per day leaving Lugano at 09:18 AM. It runs between Tuesday and Sunday (incl. holidays) from 15th April.As you surely know the train journey is between Lugano and Flüelen and then you take a boat across Lake Lucerne. Seat reservation for this train is mandatory and there are only first class coaches ! The fee seems to be 16 CHF but Interrail/Eurail passengers should contact SBB at sales-gopex@sbb.ch per the GPE website. Interrail itself warns about a 73 CHF surcharge for the first class coaches if you hold a second-class pass. It is surely because the boat across the lake isn't covered by Interrail/Eurail passes, you only get a 50% discount (so it may be more than 16 CHF). But there are hourly trains running along the same route too without reservations needed ! They travel between Locarno, Bellinzona and Luzern, Basel or Zurich on the other side of the Alps. The train is quite new with big windows t

Seat reservation EC Bern-Milan - 135eur for 3 passengers???

@Piepmatz if you only have the One-country Pass Italy, you need to buy half-fare tickets until Domodossola. It's 31.50 CHF (there are supersaver tickets somtimes, especially on the 09:34 train and you can enjoy Domo for a few hours too). The Junior card is valid of course.And then a seat reservation between Domodossola and Milan

A mobile pass can be activated within 11 months and for a paper pass you need to choose a starting date (and wait until it is delivered home).2. September travel: Paris to Lausanne to Luzern to Zurich to Milan ending Venice

From what I could see you live in the USA so 2 1st class Eurail passes would cost 1054$ (2×527) + the mandatory reservations. That's quite expensive ! On the other hand, regular tickets (bought way in advance) should be :Paris - Lausanne TGV from 54€ (1st class)Lausanne - Lucerne about 60 CHF for a specific connection (supersaver tickets) or 114 CHF for a ticket valid all day (1st class)Lucerne - Zurich 30 CHF (supersaver) or 44 CHF flexible ticket (1st class)Zurich - Milan Eurocity from 65€ (1st class)Milan - Venice Frecciarossa from 30€ (1st)This makes about 250 USD per person so half the price of the pass (and that's without reservations) !For the day between Lausanne and Lucerne I'd recommend buying a 2nd class saver day pass (from 52 CHF) or a 1st class one (from 81 CHF) and that gives you a lot of flexibility !It includes all trains, buses, trams, boats of the country !For example you could take a train to Montreux, then the Golden Pass (panoramic train) to Interlaken, take a boa

I am taking a few routes that do not require seat reservations. Do I need to reserve a place on the train beforehand?

Yes if you go through Germany, there's no need to reserve but trains can be busy, on a Friday for example or generally in summer. If you go via Paris, there are (very expensive) seat reservation fees.

From Venice to Nice in one day?

You can take how many trains as you want on a single day (00.00-23.59).Venice-Milan and Milan-Ventimiglia-Nice is totally doable in a day.And be aware of the seat reservation fees for these trains (they are available on ÖBB's website btw)

Yes of course it is valid.Please be aware of the mandatory seat reservations on the Eurocity to Italy + high-speed trains (Frecciarossa or Intercity mainly) inside Italy. These reservations are best bought on the OBB website (Austrian Railways). For all these routes there are reservation-free alternatives which can take a little bit longer (to enter Italy) or quite longer (2 hours more on the RegioExpress between Florence and Rome)

You choose a journey, for example Venice to Florence, and add a passenger with a Eurail/Interrail discount (do not choose "seat reservations only"). It should look like this screenshot.If I remember correctly international Eurocity seats are 11€, Frecciarossa 10€ and Intercitys within Italy 3€.Let me know if it doesn't work.
