Hi everyone, in early March, I be travelling with my daughters with intended trip to start at Paris (2 nights), then Interlaken (1 night), then Rome (3 nights), then Florence (2 nights), then Nice (2 nights), then back to Paris (3 nights). Any advice or view if I should get all separate trip tickets or puchase a 5 days Eurail pass. I would like to check how much individual train ticket price costs and adds up before deciding on a Eurail pass. But how do i check at the app for individual trip price? Please advice. Thanks !

www.thetrainline.com and www.raileurope.com are good for quickly checking prices (although not necessarily for buying tickets).

To check pass reservation prices, use this page:

Thank you for this. How do I make seat reservation for the Eurail pass which I already purchased? To make the seat reservation from Switzerland to Italy.

This is explained in detail on the page from Seat61 I posted.

If that doesn't work for you, then please mention route, date and departure time of the train you'd like to book.

I am looking at 5 March, travelling from Interlaken Ost - Spiez - Milano Centrale - Roma Termini. Departure is is Interlaken Ost and arrival in Roma Termini

13:29 depart Interlaken

13:48 arrive Spiez

14:05 depart Spiez

16:55 arrive Milano Centrale

17:35 depart Milano Centrale

20.34 arrive Roma Termini

We need to reserve seats for Spiez to Milano sector, and also for Milano to Roma sector. We are 3 person (1 adult and 2 youths). First time travelling Europe and via train. We have purchased the Eurail pass.

Could you please advice where I can make the seat reservations or should be OK to do it at the train station in Interlaken?

Thank you. I managed to better understand how seat61 works. Booking seat reservation via raileurope.com gives you the choice to choose seatings. From the chart to choose, how do we know which direction shown is the front of the train, i.e left side or right side of the train picture is the front? So that can choose correctly the left side or right side of seating. Which by the way, from Switzerland into Milan and on to Rome, is the left side more scenic? Once again, thanks !

Interlaken-Spiez: no reservation needed or possible.

Spiez-Milan and Milan-Rome can indeed be booked on raileurope.com.

I'm afraid though that you can't see in which direction the train will run. Trenitalia don’t indicate it on their own website either. SBB don't give train formation information for the future.

From Switzerland to Milan, it depends on what you like more. There's a number of tunnels until you're in Italy. Then first the valley is on your right side, but later Lake Maggiore is on your left side. From Milan to Roma it doesn't really matter, as far as I can see and remember.
