Best apps for organizing the interrail trip

Hello!

Besides the Rail Planner app, what other apps helped you organizing the whole trip (Accomodation reservation, train schedule and reservation, other ways of transport, etc…)

Thank you!

Hello

Beside the rail planner app, I always download the official apps of the state railway carrier of the countries I visit. Sometimes, you can load your reservations into their app and get notifications for your travels even when booked through another website (thats the case in Spain for example).

Furthermore, I use the DB navigator and/or the SBB app for train schedules throughout Europe.

For reservations, I most often used the RailEurope app and the app of Ceske Drahy, as both allow reservation only bookings directly on the phone (at least using Android).

For bus travels, I use the flixbus app. They have also included some other bus carriers in eastern Europe AFAIK.

For Accomodation, I use either the booking.com app or the hostelworld app.

Me and my friends use a shared Google doc.

Tripit

You can forward email confirmations from hotels/ airlines/ car hire, and it files it all into a trip for you. It won’t work with Interrail though.

I use a spreadsheet, to remind me of what I’ve booked, booking reference, and - if it’s flexible - cancellation deadline.

Any PDF tickets, I file them in the Books app in my phone. That way, they’re always accessible offline, and I don’t have to go searching through emails. (I’ve also had PDFs and images disappear from emails, which is annoying)

Oddly, I do use the Rail Planner app quite a lot, even when I’m not using Eurail. It’s a very easy way to quickly log an itinerary, to remind me what my plan was.

I put my planned trains in a google agenda, and share it with my travel mates then.

DB Navigator app is an essential one too, as it has more up to date timetables for most of Europe, and you can also use it to log journeys and trains.

The national rail planners from the countries you’re visiting, for real time information about delays or other trouble

CityMapper, for all public transport (suburban rail, metro, tram, bus) in the bigger cities of Europe.
