Why do I need a Eurail pass to only travel from Southampton, England to London, England and back to Southampton? Can I just purchase train tickets without a Eurail pass?

Of course.

The absolute maximum you can pay for Sothampton to London is £55 one way (or £93 in First Class). That’s a walk-up fare. Booked in advance, you can get it for a third of that price.

Either way, it’s cheaper than any rail pass.

If you want to buy a ticket in advance, I recommend lner.co.uk. Or just buy at the station when you arrive.

If you're just making this return trip, then regular tickets will be cheaper.

A better question is why you think you need a Eurail pass in the first place?
