I want to made a reservations on December 2, 2024 from 11:13 PM BASEL SBB (Switzerland) to 05:58AM KOELN HBF (Germany), even this train is shown no seat reservation required

But when I follow step to proceed payment. its got a error message as below

Part of your journey couldn't be booked

Try booking a different connection or check alternative ways to book your reservation.

And then I found that the ticket type suddeney change from e-ticket to paper ticket

Later, I refresh the browser, the train detail suddeny changed to Seat reservations required

So, do I need to made any reservation about this train?

The seating carriages have optional reservations so you don't have to book but as this train can get busy it's a good idea. Do it on the ÖBB website for 3€.

Please don't expect much with the seating carriages: lights will be fully on, announcements and you must keep a close eye on your luggage at all times (no sleep). Additionally 1-2h delays are frequent.

For a somewhat better night you could get a couchette for 49.90€ (Nightjet website).

What's your final destination? This train continues to the Netherlands.

That train is an overnight/sleeper train and things are a little different with these.

The details are a little hazy, but from memory you will need to book the reservation on nightjet.com, specifying that you have an Interrail or eurrail to get the appropriate rate.
