Advice for trip from London-Paris-Switzerland-Croatia

Hi! My family of 4 are planning a Europe trip in December 2023 and we have bought Eurail tickets for travelling. But we are having some difficulties with getting seat reservations for some of our journeys and wanted to ask for help because the Rail Planner app does not have the schedule yet for anything after 9 Dec and we are worried that there will be no seats left once it is out.

 

We have also tried getting the reservations via B-europe website but after payment, it showed an error and automatically cancelled our booking. We are still pending a refund so am unsure if we should try again on the website…

 

For reference, these are our planned trips where we will need to reserve seats:
1. London to Paris (10 Dec 2023) - London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord
2. Paris to Zurich (12 Dec 2023) - Paris Gare De Lyon to Zuerich Hb
3. Zurich to Zagreb (16 to 17 Dec 2023, overnight train) - Zuerich Hb to Zagreb Glavni Kol.

Should we wait for the timetable to be out on the Rail Planner app or try other websites? Would appreciate any advice on how to go about booking our seats as this is the first time we’re using the Eurail. Thank you so much :)

London to Paris is open for reservation from B-Europe. Did you receive any emails with booking reference when you tried to book?

Paris to Zurich - if you want the direct train, I think you need to use the Eurail reservations service. But you can also take a cheaper route by reserving just the TGV to Strasbourg or Mulhouse, then taking a TER to Basel, then a Swiss train. (The latter two don’t need reservations.)

For Zurich - Zagreb, the best place to reserve is via the ÖBB website. Add the Eurail discount where it says 1 x adult, and then search for ‘one way tickets and day tickets’. There’s availability in both couchettes and sleeper for that date.

Hi! Yes we did receive a booking but shortly after it was automatically cancelled by B-Europe and till now, we haven't received our refund yet.

 

For Paris to Zurich, does it make a difference if we reserve seats on the website compared to the app? We can see that the schedule is out on the website but not the app. And thanks for the cheaper route suggestion!

 

Will check the OBB website for our trip from Zurich to Zagreb! Thank you :)

You cannot book reservations on the app, you only log there the train you'd like to take. This gives you a QR-code (your ticket) and it can be done literally seconds before boarding.

Adding a train to the app does not guarantee you a seat on the train.

The app redirects you to websites, including eurail.com
