Is there a reliable/trustworthy taxi/bus company they do journeys from Berlin airport to the city centre/Hbf station? Are trains available for this instead?

there is even the special “FEX” Flughafen Express (Airport Express) that goes from the Airport straight to Ostkreuz (good if you stay in former East Berlin), Gesundbrunnen to Berlin Hauptbahnhof :)

Thank you. Do the trains need to be booked in advance or can I just get them as and when I need them. Also, silly question but are there staff about to direct you to the right train?

Yes it does. Just check the DB planner or the DB Navigator app to check timetables.
