Al haber hecho dos reservas separadas, el sistema las asigna aleatoriamente y no necesariamente son contiguas. Me parece que es una reserva de SNCF: Esas son anulables con reembolso total hasta la salida del tren (salvo los gastos de gestion). En ese caso puedes anular estas reservas y reservar dos plazas de una vez, por ejemplo a través de raileurope.com.
+9If you reserve them at the same time, the system will always try to assign seats together - unless the train is so full that that's impossible.
What is your journey, which train company, and where did you buy the reservation? It might be possible to change your seats online.
For future reservations - same question. With some train operators, it's easy to change or select seats yourself, depending on where you buy the reservation.

It should also be possible to change one of the SNCF bookings in the TGV Inoui Pro app. This looks like 2nd class, where you don't have a seat map, but where you can request seats close to a carriage/seat number you give.
The app is only in French though. You need to start an exchange (Échanger), then choose the same train, and then go into the seat choice.
Alternatively, you can call SNCF (in French or English) and request the seat change.
