Berlin to Copenhagen

I’m going from Berlin to Copenhagen and I’m making seat reservations. In the interrail-app it says that it’s only necessary to make reservations for the second train, so we’re planning on doing that. But should we also make reservations for the first train? Or will there be space for us either way? Because the app does not even say that it is recommended, just that’s it possible. And for the last train, we thought that we shouldn’t buy reservations since it’s so short and there’ll be risks that we are late and might have to take a later train or something. And ofc we want to save as much money as possible. <but the app recommends us to buy reservations. But do you think it’s fine to just let it be? So my questions are if we should book the first and the last train, or if you think it’s ok that we don’t. (we’ll have to take the first train to get to the second one, so that one we don’t want to miss, but if there’s no risk of us not getting on it, we don’t want to buy reservations). Thank you for responding in advance!

If you want to save as much money as possible, then use the reservation-free alternatives to get to Denmark. Or only book Hamburg-Fredericia for €3 on tickets.oebb.at. The 12:36 from Berlin still has many free seats. You could also book all trains together on bahn.de, for €5.20 per person in total, or €10.40 for a family resrvation.

If you're worried about having enough time inn Hamburg, then take the earlier ICE at 12:05. In the search results on bahn.de, you can ask for an earlier arrival at Hamburg Hbf, so you can still book all trains for the same price.
