Booking a seat on LNER

I am trying to book a seat on my first leg from Leeds to London Kings Cross which is an LNER train. The Interrail planner says

“Not available from Interrail.eu

This seat reservation can’t be booked on our website. Check 'More information' for other ways to book.”

Firstly, does this mean that I can’t travel by this train at all?

I tried to book a seat with LNER who is the carrier on this train. There doesn’t seem to be a way to book a seat without having a ticket.

Can someone tell me how I book a seat in this case?

You can travel on LNER without a reservation - the trip planner is wrong in saying reservations are compulsory..

But if you do want a reservation, you can book it on the LNER website. Just enter 0 as your ticket number.

    I have given up on this particular trip and bought an air ticket but I'm going to try again.

    I gave up when I found that there didn't appear to be a single bookable seat on Eurostar before the end of September (and maybe after that, I gave up at that point).

    There appears to be a problem here, the b europe site seems to show available seats for Interrail passes when the Interrail site doesn't.

    Any advice on this point would be welcome.

    There appears to be a problem here, the b europe site seems to show available seats for Interrail passes when the Interrail site doesn't.

    There is indeed a problem: if you're not logged in, then the Interrail website shows all trains (not just Eurostar) as "sold out”.

    The best place to book Eurostar seats is www.raileurope.com (no added fees).

    Please ask questions in the community and not via a private message. That's the quickest way to get a response. I don't work for Eurail/Interrail.
