booking renfe trains

Does anyone know the extension for the RENFE number to speak to someone in English? I have tried calling the number but am unable to go through on my personal phone. When I previously called in my home country I had no problem getting through and speaking to someone. I have tried using a friend’s phone and can only get to an automated Spanish line and am having trouble figuring out how to switch it to English. Otherwise does anyone have advice for making the reservations for Barcelona to Madrid and Madrid to Lisbon?

Barcelona to Madrid: have a look at the Eurail reservation website. You can book AVE trains there now.

For Madrid to Lisbon, assuming you will arrive in Barcelona some time before you travel to Madrid: book that reservation at the ticket office in Barcelona.

In Spain, you cannot book Portuguese reservations. Those are only bookable at a Portuguese ticket office, or when that's closed, approach the ticket inspector before you board.
