Hi, As I try to reserve the seat from Milano to Chambery to go to Geneva/ Lucerne, I see that  high price. Can someone guide me how to travel from Milan to Lyon or Geneva as I wish to travel to that side.

Also, is it possible to get closer to Alps from Milan from a different route?

Thanks

You can go directly to Geneva and Lucern with the Eurocity from Milan via Domodossola to Geneve or Basel.

With the Eurocity you pay around 15€ for the reservation. Or you can go with regional trains to Domodossola and change there for regional service to Brig or enter the Eurocity (from Domodossola the reservation is not compulsory).

To go to Luzern in CH via FRance is quite a big detour.

YOu must learn how to use railways at best advantage, do NOT rely too much on these planners, cut up the trip in shorter segments.

From MIlano to Luzern is quickest on direct EC, or for nothing extra TreNord till Chiasso, as inside Swiss you do not need any RESerbvation/suppltmt.

There are also every 2 hrs TER (thats the word to look out for In side FRance) Geneve-Lyon.

Or now via new tunnel direct trains from GNv south to Annecy-Bourg St Maurice.
