We are making the reservations and in the app it indicates that we must reserve a seat in some sections and when entering to make the reservation it indicates that it is not necessary. Anyone else has happened? Thank you

It is a bit complicated, if you start your trip in Austria and go to Budapest you don’t need a reservation. In Hungary I don’t know because normal trains in Hungary need a reservation but book it directly via CD or ÖBB with the seat only option, because it is quit full train. Check timetable of the train companies and not Interrail website or app.

Train companies:  MAV Start and ÖBB

Ok. Thanks.

@seewulf @rvdborgt Do you know if reservations are mandatory or not?

Indeed, this train only needs a reservation for domestic journeys in Hungary. Or maybe it's only for passengers holding domestic tickets for Hungary (which would exclude Interrail/Eurail), I'm not entirely sure. A domestic reservation for Hungary can be made on the MÁV website; price there is HUF 595 (about 1.5€) for this train.

For domestic journeys a seat reservation is required DEFINITELY. For international ones you can just board.
