Hi. My partner and I have planned to travel from Budapest to Ljubljana on July 26th, 2025. We've been trying for a while now to reserve seat tickets for the 9 a.m. departure from Budapest. But everywhere we've looked, it's not possible to reserve seats... Does anyone know why that is or how we can get it done?

There are works until further notice on the Hungarian part of the line. There will be replacement buses running, though the July timetable isn't available yet.
I’ve looked on the DB, OBB and MAV sites and I het no availability for a seat reservwtion in IC246 (departure at 9 AM).
I think there are (sadly) no (more) seats available to reserve on this specific train.
Looking deeper I van find tickets for this train (but no individual reservations)
An option is to take another route or pat for a ticket. Or you can keep checking the MAV site amd hope there comes space.
I don’t think this train is sold out that far in advance. It’s rather the case that they haven’t yet released the reservations.
I get the reservation error message on MAV when trying to book an ordinary ticket too.
Could also be possible, I tot an option to buy a ticket but didn’t proceed.
Seat61 says most of the reservstions and/or tickets are for sale from 3 months, some from 60 days.
