check if the trains have avaible seets before bying interrail pass

we would like to be sure that there are free Seats on the trains we should use before we by our interrail pass

Except for Eurostar and some international TGVs, there is no Interrail quota - so you can check on each train company’s own website to see there’s a ticket available. 

Also check the Seat61 guide to how and where to make reservations - most of the time you don’t need a pass number to check.

It's also good to know the Interrail Pass is fully refundable within 7 days of purchase, provided it remains unactivated. (you don't have to activate it to view seat availability) So if you were to buy it and discover that seats are not available during the planning stage, you can opt for a refund without any cancellation fees.
