Connection in Mannheim

Hi everyone, we have a connection to make between a Paris-Mannheim train and a Mannheim-Berlin train. We can either choose a 16 minutes connection or a 1h and 15 minutes. The platforms are right next to each other so 16 minutes should be fine but I'm not sure to trust the French train company to arrive to Mannheim on time. Seats reservation for Mannheim-Berlin is not mandatory (neither recommended). In case we book seats for the first connection but miss it, would we easily get on the next train?

Thanks for your help,

Lou-Anne

You can board any DB train. Reservations in Germany are optional. Most free seats are at the front and rear of the train

Before arriving in Mannheim, check the DB Navigator app for realtime information. You might even catch the previous train if it's delayed… it will also tell you the train composition and which end of the train is 1st and 2nd class.

You can book Paris-Mannheim on raileurope.com or at an SNCF ticket office; price is €19.

If you make reservations on the first train (16 minutes) but miss it due to delays, you can get the reservation fee refunded
