Some reservations are refundable or exchangeable, but not on the Rail Planner app. How to make it depends of the country. You can also visit a ticket office to obtain a new reservation, free of charge if you are late due to the delay of another train.

That depends on why you're late. If it is your own fault you need to buy a new reservation. If you are late because your earlier train was late, then you should get a new reservation for free. It is then good to have proof of the delay, like a screenshot from the live timetable.
