I live in the UK. What if I buy an interrail pass but then can’t get a reservation on the limited seats in the Eurostar? Is it maybe better to buy the Eurostar separately and then start the interrail pass on the continent?

You can check pass holder availability on www.raileurope.com (select your rail pass as a discount in the search window) or https://www.b-europe.com/NL/Kopen/Pass#TravelWish . Before deciding on using the pass for Eurostar or not.

Difficult to say. Ordinary Eurostar prices are rather pricey. When do you want to travel?

Two weeks ago I bought Eurostar tickets for 3 days in advance. They regularly have last minute availabilities for pass holders to fill the train. If you’re a bit flexible and avoid the busy days/moments availability is quite okay.

So if I check on the raileurope site, there are available tickets showing but if I check on the interrailing website, everything come up as sold out!

The interrail website is not the most reliable booking website, mildly put. In addition, there's currently a bug that makes all trains appear as "sold out” if you're not logged in. But since it's almost always more expensive to book reservations via Interrail, it's best not to book there.

Aha! Thank you! I was starting to wonder if it was worth it buying the pass. So what you are saying is buy a pass, have it enlivened and then book the reservations where?

Don't activate your pass or a travel day in advance. It not needed and generally not a good idea.

For reservations, follow the advice on this page:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

If you have any problems, then ask here and mention at least route, date and departure time.
