My wife and I have first class Interrail passes and we shall shortly be purchasing seat reservations for the journeys from Torino Porta Susa to Roma Termini and Roma Termini to Milano Porta Garibaldi.    I was very surprised when I went onto the Rail Europe site just now that as well as offering two reserved seats at £23.60, there was also the option to purchase seats in the “Business suite” for £41.80.   When I look on the Trenitalia website I see, other than Standard and Business class, there is only  “Executive” class mentioned.  So, am I right in assuming that for, effectively an extra £9 each my wife and I could get a couple of executive class seats?    And does this give us access to the Executive Lounges at stations?  I am questioning this because I have looked at previous responses on this forum and there it was said that a First class Interrail pass was gave you access to Business class but not Executive class.

First, always change currency to euro on Rail Europe. Their prices in other currencies are almost 5% higher.

"Business Suite” (Business Salottino) is a small compartment in business class, but it is not the same as Executive. The latter class can't be booked for passholders. Also see Seat61's explanation.

Pass holders don't have access to the Trenitalia lounges.

Thank you.  That makes a lot of sense.  The £9 difference would have been worth taking for the free meal alone.  It just had to be too good to be true!!
