I'd like to travel from Rome to London. So that we can take a ferry or a plane to Ireland and but I'd like to travel through Switzerland just to see the area and get a hotel. Somewhere near a train station obviously. Any help is appreciated. We've never done the train system before.

10 day rail pass. 30 days on vacation

2 cruises to and from Florida USA

“So that we can take a ferry or a plane to Ireland” . . . you may want to clarify this one.

You can get a plane to Ireland from pretty much anywhere in Europe, including Rome.  You don’t have to get it from London.  You can get a ferry to Ireland from France, Spain, Wales or Scotland.

Do you definitely want to go to London on the way, or is it just that you thought you had to?  That will help people give better advice.

If you want to travel from rome to switzerland your best option is to take the Highspeed train to Milano. From their you can get to switzerland. Their are plenty of places you can get to in switzerland. I would recommend for example Luzern or Zürich.

How many stops are you planning to make on your jouney to London?

And what are places you want to visit on the way there?

Switzerland also has quite a few scenic train routes you can take if you plan tonstay there for a couple of days.

From Switzerland you could travel via Paris (France) or via Germany and Belgium. Travelling via Paris is the more direct route.

No I don't need to go to London. I just thought it would be the fastest way, since we are going by train only. Thank you
