Dear community,

I have a 10-day Interrail ticket and was planning to use it, to go to Riga, Latvia from Ljubljana.

I seem to struggle to find any connection from Poland to Lithuania..
Has anyone done this trip? Any tips, recommendations?

Thank you a lot in advance! :)

dober dan-interesting trip-into old time nostalgia of the eastern block.

ONLY in summer and ONLY weekends runs 1 train/day by PolRegio over the newly installed=EU help normal gauge PL->LT: from Bialystok, via Suwalki to Kauno-connects to Vilnius. There was a recent post that early sept was to be last day. The talks are about Rail Baltica-which is meant to link all the 3 on normal gauge and even build a tunnel to Helsinki/FI-progress is not very fast. Maybe this changes due to the recent invasions of Russye.

As for now NO trains at all over the old soviet broad gauge between LT and LV (Lietuva=Lithuania, Latvia). Enough buses and not overly expensive-many make the trip starting somewhere in DE=germany, via B/erlin-Warszawa.

Best site for useful practical info: seat61.com, by Mark Smith, who details all overland routes, not specific for passes, from GB to all countries in EUR.

Hope you can find some interested in this anyway

@mcadv

This train runs every weekend until 10 December; from 11 December there will be a daily connection.

No there wasn't.
