How to book the train from Krakow to Vienna?

I want to book the train from Krakow Glowny to Vienna central station on Sunday 21st June for me and one other person. I have tried to book the 10:21am multiple times on the OBB Austrian railway website but every time I go through the whole process and then after paying it says ‘Reservation not possible’ and ‘Please change your reservation request’. I have tried multiple times on this website and as well on the PKP intercity website. Neither work and interrail says this journey requires a reservation. Does this mean the train is full, I’m too early to reserve the seats or something else? Any help would be appreciated :)

Hello @Hannah_Griffith,

I just checked, and the IC 205 train from Kraków Główny to Wien Hbf, departing at 10:21 on June 21, is currently available for booking. You can make your reservation through the following websites:

  1. Interrail   Book seat reservations
  2. OBB       Tickets & services
  3. ČD         Connections and tickets | ČD

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you need any further help.

Kind regards,

Khyber

PKP don't show any prices, so reservations are not open yet. After opening, you can book on tickets.oebb.at or cd.cz.

Hi - I have looked on OBB and prices are shown for reservations (3 euros each) so I tried to go ahead and book it and I got through all of the stages, including payment (which in the end it didn’t take) but then once I do that it says reservation not possible. Does this definitely mean reservations are not open? And if so, do you know when they might open - every website I have seen so far says 60 days i advance (and it is less than that now), so I am a bit confused

Like I said: PKP don't show prices, so reservations are not open. It doesn't matter what other websites show. That's how it usually works for trains from/to Poland.

PKP used to open international trains 60 days in advance and that is supposed to be 180 days since December, but this can always be shorter in case of planned engineering works or timetable changes. The summer timetable starts on 14/6 so that's the probable cause. Also see:

Indeed, reservations are open now. cd.cz is easy and cheap and offers the best conditions IMO.
