Hello Community,

so I have a question.
I will travel to paris on the 20th May.

If I look for a seat reservation for the train from munich at 5:50am in morning. When I want to book it direct from munich → paris  i can not book it.

When I book from Munich → Karlsruhe  I can book a seat (even if i dont have to)
When I book the same train from Karlsruhe → Paris , i can also book
Same for raileurope etc.

When I go to Bahn.de it says that this train is not going from munich at all. There it says this train starts in Karlsruhe.

Does anybody know if this train will drive from munich to karlsruhe and then to paris? 😅

Thanks you :)

DB (generally) won't offer tickets or seat reservations for a train that is going to be cancelled. Only once the timetable is definite, will they release tickets.

Note that 5.90€ seat reservations are not valid, you must pay the 19€ fare (on Rail Europe or elsewhere).

You should book a reservation from Karlsruhe now at least for peace of mind, available on Rail Europe without booking fee.

This is the best alternative itinerary:

- ICE 692 München Hbf - Stuttgart Hbf 05:42 - 07:59

- RE1 Stuttgart Hbf - Karlsruhe Hbf 08:32 - 09:25

(There's also an IC at 07:59 that could be delayed.)

In the meantime SNCF is still selling tickets from Munich, I love cross-border cooperation lol. Then they'll have to deal with the cancellation...

Hello @buette1234

You must trust the information of the DB, but I think that the definitive timetable is currently not available. Try later to see if a replacement train from Munich to Karlsruhe will be available. It occurs often in Germany that a reservation can be made, but the train is later cancelled.

Thank you guys.

I will do it like that.
I will now make the seat reservation from Karlsruhe to Paris. And for Munich → Karlsruhe I will wait a couple of days to see which trains are really going from munich to karlsruhe on this day. :)

For a train that early from Munich, I wouldn't bother with a reservation. Just keep checking the timetable.
