Please could someone advise the cheapest route (ie lowest reservations) travelling from Naples to Paris in a single day, likely to be 20 May, or thereabouts.

I think that the best route is via Switzerland: Napoli - Milano - Basel - Paris.
It is cheaper if you travel between Milano and Lugano with a regional train and between Basel and Paris via Strasbourg. TGV timetables from Strasbourg to Paris are currently not available for this date.
