On the Forum I read about the ÖBB app as a good possibility to make reservations in Italian trains. Tomorrow we want to travel from Milano to Rom. Seat reservation in the öbb App is possible but I get told: Ticket bitte vorab ausdrucken. Auf A4 papier ausdrucken. My question is: what is the alternativ? If I go to the Station about one hour earlier can I get the reservation too in a Ticket office? How much time does that take?

I’m pretty sure you can just show the reservation on your phone, if it’s even needed.
I did get my hotel in Turin to print it out before my train to Milan, but nobody asked to see it.
You can show the reservation on your phone if someone wants to see it.
At this moment I‘m in the train from Milano to Rome. The conductor did ask for my reservation and I showed ihm the PDF of the ÖBB on my iPad. It seemed to be in order. He didnt ask for A4 paper. So the ÖBB app really worked!
